About This SiteThis page is designed to inform the Scripps College community about emergency preparedness – what to do in advance of, during, and after a major emergency. Please read it carefully. If a major emergency – such as an earthquake, fire, or hazardous material accident – occurs, the Executive Staff responds through its active Emergency Operations Plan, which includes detailed College-wide procedures. Simultaneously, specially trained response groups will be activated. All efforts are designed to protect students, faculty and staff. The College is prepared to respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Scripps College practices this plan frequently, through emergency drills held several times a year, and team members have been trained for immediate and thorough response during an emergency. Key portions of the campus are equipped with emergency generators. We have supplies at the ready, including blankets, plans for emergency shelter, portable toilets, and food and water for the entire Scripps community.
